Using less toxic cleaning products is not only safer for your family, but cost effective because you will have to buy fewer products. We have become victims of marketing for products we don’t even need. In fact, if you look around your home you may even find cleaning products that have barely been used. We have been conditioned to think we need a different cleaning product for every chore. But, that is not the case. You can save money and have a safer home by using just a few nontoxic products. You will also be helping the environment by eliminating the unnecessary chemicals and decreasing the amount of packaging.
All-purpose cleaner
Uses: floors, counters, kitchen surfaces, bathrooms, sinks, toilets, tubs, disinfectant
Natural alternative: TraceyClean All-Purpose Cleaner contains vinegar which is a disinfectant and essential oils with natural antibacterial, antimicrobial, and disinfecting properties. Products made with vinegar should not be used on marble.
Glass/window cleaner
Uses: mirrors, glass, windows, stainless steel, faucets
Natural alternative: TraceyClean Glass Cleaner
Toilet bowl cleaner
Natural alternative: Vinegar & baking soda, weekly pour ½-1 cup of vinegar and ½ cup baking soda into the toilet bowl, let it sit for 15-30 minutes, scrub with toilet brush, then flush (My six year old son loves to put the vinegar & baking soda into the toilet. He thinks the bubbles are really cool!) The outside of the toilet can be cleaned with an all-purpose cleaner.
Floor cleaner
Natural alternative: bucket of warm water, ¼ cup of vinegar, and about 10 drops of pure essential oil
Tools
Microfiber dusters and cloths, a sponge mop, and a vacuum
